Greetings from Out West Online. We wanted to share some interesting speed upgrades in the tech industry that might impact on your business and customers in 2022.
Wi-Fi is about to get faster
WiFi 6 is the next generation of Wi-Fi. It’ll still do the same basic thing connect you to the internet – just with a bunch of additional technologies to make that happen more efficiently, speeding up connections in the process.
When upgrading your phone, computer and router ensure it has WiFi 6.
NBN Fibre Upgrades
Orange, Parkes, Bathurst, Wellington, Narromine, Mudgee & Dubbo have all been listed to get upgraded to Fibre to the Premises.
This will enable incredibly fast internet connections for business and residential premises.
New Data Centre for Dubbo
The data centre will help lead the way for faster, more reliable & cheaper internet access. Dubbo will now be able to access direct cloud connectivity rather than connecting through traditional internet links.
“In terms of setting up our region for success, this is a key piece of essential infrastructure.”
PHP 8.1 Released
PHP is a server side scripting language that is used by 8 out of every 10 websites. The latest version 8.1 contains many new features and includes performance improvements.
If you are running a WordPress website double check with Out West Online if your site has the latest PHP installed.
Enter Starlink as a viable option for Regional NSW
Elon Musk, co-founder of $1.3 trillion Tesla and rocket company SpaceX, has been quietly rolling out his satellite internet service Starlink in Australia since April 2021.
Starlink is still in beta phase, but it is already showing signs it could deliver internet at speeds significantly faster than the NBN for rural & remote communities.
